The baddies are no longer content to sit back and watch you - they’re sending spacecraft equipped with real firepower! Your cannons have also been upgraded, so you should be able to hold your own without too much trouble, but be ready for a few fights this time.
I’ve also fitted an emergency auto-retreat system to your ship. If your other systems become too heavily damaged, this fancy new mechanism will zip you away to safety, while the planet’s magnetic field recharges you.
Note also that the gravity bubble gun (which is still a bit janky) has been moved to weapon slot number 2 - use the number keys to switch between that and the cannons.
It would seem that, for some reason, the Godot game engine isn’t fully loading the sounds until the first time that they are used. I’ve attempted to add a workaround, but it doesn’t appear to be helping - I’m still getting a major hiccup the first time some of the sounds are played after a system reboot. I’ll keep digging into that.
There are a lot more things that almost-but-not quite made it into this demo, and you’ll probably be seeing most of them next week.
