The enemy is monitoring you, and your Magic Woo-Woo collecting activities. As your harvest grows, they’re likely to launch increasingly large attacks. You’ll find that your ship is now equipped with an auxiliary meter to track the amount of Woo-Woo that you’ve collected (beyond that which powers your engines and weapons). Another meter now shows the level of detected enemy activity - watch your back out there!
The auto-retreat system is now locked to move in reverse, so your ship will always come to a rest facing the direction from which you came. If you want to head straight back into the fray, you can now more easily do so. The enemy will probably track you down sooner or later, regardless!
On the more technical side of things, I was able to identify and correct the source of the hiccups I mentioned in the previous post. It turns out to have been caused by Godot not fully loading the 3D models until the first time they are instantiated. Once I forced them to preload at startup, things smoothed out.
I haven’t done anything with the gravity bubbles since last week, but this update definitely has me itching to add some more weapon types and other dynamics. Expect more new things (and more polish on the things added this week) in the week ahead!
