Friendly Tutelage

This week began with grand aspirations, but I decided to fix some outstanding issues with the tutorial system first.

With that work wrapped up, I started laying the groundwork for an upgrade shop to be used between missions, and a drone model selection screen for the start of each run.

At that point, it became apparent that I needed to perform some long-overdue maintenance on the GUI subsystems. Originally, I’d figured the GUI would be fairly minimal, with little more than a pause menu with graphics, sound, and input settings. The game’s needs have long since outgrown the simple GUI systems that I initially built, however, and so I spent most of this week working on a major clean-up.

As a result, aside from a better tutorial system, and the removal of the ghost ships that were accidentally in the previous demo, you’ll find nothing visibly new in this version. Nevertheless, the download link is available from the Ko-Fi post.
